August 24, 1911 Died: DEACONS - At Milltown, Aug. 18, Frederick Borden, aged 3 years. 1901 St. David Charlotte Co. Census: St. Croix Courier 10/3/1895: Robert DEACON was born in Ireland,
13th June 1825. When seven years old he came with his parents to Charlotte Co. and settled on
a farm on Tower Hill. At manhood he obtained a free grant farm and when 28 years old he married
Mary PEPPER and settled down there, where he resided until the day of his death. Cancer, the
disease of which he died, began to develop itself in his throat in March last and he was advised
to go to St. John hospital for treatment, where he underwent a painful surgical operation and
remained eight weeks. He, however, received but little benefit and returned home on Aug. 12 and
after five weeks of suffering, he passed away. On the Wednesday morn. following his funeral
services were conducted by Rev. Millidge at his residence. Mourners followed his remains to Oak Bay
cemetery. He was a member of the Episcopal Church, a kind husband and loving father.
St. Croix Courier 10/10/1895: d. St. David (Charlotte Co.) Sept. 17, of cancer of the
throat, Robert DEACON, age 70 years 3 mos., left widow, four daughters
