History & Antiquities of Somersetshire Vol I Parts 3-6: By an inquest taken at Ilchester 29th October, 31 Henry VIII, 1540, it is set forth that John Abarough died September 28, 30 Henry VII (1539) seised of a capital messuage at North-Barrow; five hundred and twenty acres of arable land; forty acres of meadow; twelve of pasture; and two of wood, which he held of the manor of Castle-Cary. This family held considerable estates in this county and Dorsetshire. Their chief residence was at Ditcheat.

Son John Abroughe of Dichett (Ditcheat) married Isabel daughter of Raphe Hanam of Evererich. Children: 2. Hercules, 1. Anthony, Mary, Agnes.
