Gen Reg of the First Settlers of NE pg 244: RIPLEY, ABRAHAM, Hingham, son of Wlm Ripley, was adm freeman 1655. JOHN, Hingham, brother of the preceding, was admitted freeman 1655; m dau of Rev. Peter Hobart, and had 6 sons, John, Joshua, Jeremiah, Josiah, Peter & Hezekiah. WILLIAM, father of the preceding, came from Hingham Eng with his wife, sons Abraham & John and 2 daus and settled at Hingham MA in 1638; was adm freeman 1641 & d 7/20/1656. His descendants are very respectable, of whom is Rev Ezra Ripley D.D. of Concord MA a native of Woodstock who grad H.C. 1776.

Pioneers of MA 386: RIPLEY, William, weaver, from Lynn ENG, came in 1638; settled at Hingham. Propr. 1638. He m. 2, Sept 29, 1654, Elizabeth, widow of Thomas Thaxter. /P/ He died 29 (5) 1656. Will prob. 1/24/1656-7, beq. to sons John and Abraham. [Reg. VI, 354.] The widow m. 3, John Dwight.

STEPHEN, Hingham, br. of the preced. by w. WILLIAM, Hingham 1638, came, as by the contempo. MS. of his townsman, Daniel Cushing, we learn, with w. and two s. and two ds. from Hingham, Co. Norfolk, Eng. was freem. 18 May, 1642, m. 29
Sept. 1654, as sec. w. Eliz. wid. of Thomas Thaxter, and d. 20 July 1656. His will of 30 June preced. abstr. in Geneal. Reg. VI. 354, is minute eno. as to the geogr. of his lds. but names no relat. exc. the two s. wh. are made excors. His d. Sarah m. 18 Oct. 1653, Jeremiah Beal, but neither she nor the other d. nor w. are ment. The latter m. 20 Jan. 1658, John Dwight of Dedham. One WILLIAM, was of Gallop's comp. for the sad campaign against Quebec, 1690. Nine of this name had
been, in 1834, gr. at Yale, five at Harv. and six at other N. E. coll.
